Describe an average training day   I normally lift weights at 10 a.m. I lift until 11.30.  I then do some study during the day and go to the track at 6 p.m to do a running session. I normally do interval running and  some hurdle drills until 8 p.m
Pre-race routine   I start to warm up about an hour and a half before the race. I jog for a few minutes then I stretch and start to do sprinting drills. I run flat out to 30 metres 3 times and then I run flat out over 1 hurdle, 2 hurdles and 3 hurdles. I go to the call room 30 minutes before the race. The whole time during my warm up I listen to my ipod. I listen to everything from Jay-Z  to Britney Spears.
How did you get into athletics

I ran a race in school when I was 6 and just started from there. A teacher called my Mum to tell her it might be a good idea to put me in a club.

First race you remember winning   I remember winning a race on the grass in primary school. I mainly remember because we were racing against the boys from the boys school and I beat them. I would have been quite young 6 or 7.
Sporting Hero   Sonia O' Sullivan is my hero. Her achievements in athletics are absolutely incredible. She dominated distance running in the world for part of the 90’s and has won every single medal there is to win in athletics.
Most Memorable Moment   Winning world indoor championships in 2006 and surprising everyone in athletics. It was amazing to have a race and be the fastest in the world.
Most embarrassing moment on the track

I ran the flat 100m in the Irish championships in 2007. With 10 metres to go I was trying so hard I slipped and fell. It was raining so I slid along the track for about 15 metres. I was so mortified that I didn’t even notice for a while that I was bleeding in loads of places. I still came second because I fell over the line!

Funniest thing you have seen at an event   At the 2003 world championships in Paris one of the U.S sprinters did a false start and got disqualified. He refused to leave the track and lay flat out on the track. It took security about 15 minutes to physically remove him. It was very very funny watching him being dragged off the track.
Favourite Movie   I like to watch easy movies that make me laugh. I love Zoolander, Intermission and anything else along those lines.
Favourite Music   For training it has to be Jay-z, Kanye West, Linkin Park, Eminem. For chilling out it would be Paolo Nutini, The Blizzards, The Coronas
Favourite Book   I read a lot of books which makes this a hard one. I love Keane the autobiography, anything by Jodi Picoult and “The power of one”
If you were not an athlete, what would you like to be

I’m not sure. I have never really wanted to do anything except run fast. Maybe something on t.v.
